Our Big "Fall" at Target

Yesterday the boys and I were out running errands. While we were at Wal-Mart picking out Valentine cards I noticed that Noah was standing kind of funny. Then I noticed that there was a yellow liquid all over the ground beneath him. He had peed his pants!! After getting someone to clean it up I had to go find a pair of pants in the boys section to buy so I could change him. I was not about to let him get in the car with his wet pants, socks and shoes. It was quite the ordeal to get him all out of his wet clothes and into the new pants.

I was ready to just head home but I had promised Peyton I would take him over to Target for lunch so he could get a Pizza Hut pizza with the coupon he got at school. Since Noah didn't have any shoes to wear I decided to just carry him in to Target. I usually don't carry him much anymore, because he is getting bigger and so is my tummy. Right when we got in the store my shoe slipped on something and we both went crashing to the ground. Because Noah was in my arms I wasn't able to brace him or myself. Noah's head hit the ground really hard and made the most awful cracking sound. I swear all the people and cashiers at the front of the store just went dead silent. Initially I felt really stupid for falling like that and having everyone stare at me, but I was mostly just really worried about Noah and that he would have some sort of head injury. There were some nice people and several Target employees around that helped us up and wanted to make sure we were OK. After the initial shock of what just happened wore off, Noah starting crying really hard and his face went really pale. After getting him calmed down I checked his head for any injuries. I thought for sure from the cracking sound that his head made when it hit the floor that I would taking him to the hospital. But I couldn't find anything wrong with his head, not even a goose-egg. The last time Noah hit his head I called the doctor's office and they told me to watch his pupils and not let him go to sleep. So I kept talking to him, but of course after having something that traumatic happen to him, his eyes started to drift shut. I checked his head throughout the rest of the day but didn't find anything unusual. I didn't realize until later that if I would have fallen differently I could have landed on my stomach which could have caused some injuries to the baby. This morning I woke up to a badly bruised knee and some pulled muscles but I feel really lucky that nothing worse happened to either of us. It was quite the eventful day for us, to say the least. (And to top it all off, when we tried to get Peyton's free pizza the Target employee tells me they don't accept the free pizza coupons anymore!! That would have been nice to know!!)

A couple of years ago when we were at Target, Noah fell out of the cart head first and hit his head really hard on the ground. He ended up being fine that time as well. I can't believe how hard little kids' heads are!! I think we are forever cursed with accidents at Target!
